Winter Wildlife on Prudence Island

Winter is a wonderful time to see harbor seals and many species of beautiful ducks just off the shoreline of Prudence Island. We'll spend part of the day viewing the harbor seals and learning about their biology and migration habits, and make several stops around the island to search for waterfowl including eiders, mergansers, goldeneyes and buffleheads. This winter adventure is a fun way to explore Prudence Island! Due to limited space, registration is required.

What to Bring: Food and drinks for the day; comfortable shoes and warm layers; binoculars (extras will be available to share).
Ferry and Parking: Participants will depart from Bristol, RI on the Prudence and Bay Islands Transport ferry at 9:45AM, arriving on Prudence at 10:15AM. You will return onthe 4:15PM ferry, arriving back in Bristol at 4:45PM. A Narragansett Bay Research Reserve educator will greet you on the island and provide transportation via a passenger van for the day. Ferry ticket cost is not included in the price of the program and is about $8 round trip. There is a free municipal parking lot in Bristol near the intersection of Church and Thames Street.
