Hiking Prudence Island
Prudence Island has several miles of hiking trails that cover a range of habitats from forested wetlands to coastal meadow and pine barrens. Join us for what is sure to be a beautiful fall hike. Pace will be moderate as we plan to cover four to five miles over a mix of terrain, stopping for lunch halfway through the hike. Trails are well-maintained and we will avoid areas of high grass to reduce exposure to ticks. There will be time to explore beaches and salt marshes at the end of the day.
What to Bring: lunch/drinks for the day, insect repellent, sunblock, and good walking shoes. Reservations are required due to limited space. Ferry ticket is not included in the price and is approximately $11 round trip/adult. You will depart on the 9:45 am ferry from Bristol, arriving on Prudence at 10:15 am; the return trip will depart Prudence at 4:15 pm and arrive in Bristol at 4:45 pm. Upon arrival on Prudence, you will be greeted by educators from the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve who will be your guides and provide vehicle transportation.
