Monhegan Island Birding Trip

Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine has become one of the premiere destinations for spring migration in the Northeast. The dramatic seaside cliffs, unspoiled forests, and quaint fishing village provide the setting for an amazing birding experience. Warblers, flycatchers, vireos and thrushes are all part of the attraction. Highlights in recent years have included Bell's Vireo, Golden-winged Warbler, Blue Grosbeak, and Summer Tanager. When conditions are ideal, the concentration of migrants can be staggering and the views of the birds you will see will be like no other. Audubon guides have experienced this trip under all conditions and participants have never been disappointed. Also included is a cruise around Eastern Egg Rock, the southern most breeding colony for Atlantic Puffins. Black Guillemot, Arctic Tern and Roseate Tern all can be found there as well. The trip includes three nights at the Trailing Yew Inn, a delightful century-old inn illuminated by kerosene lamps.

Trip incudes 3 nights of accommodations, breakfast, puffin tour, ferry tickets and guided walks. Lunches and dinners are not included. Trip departs from Port Clyde, Maine on the 10:30 am ferry. Participants must meet in Port Clyde, Maine for departure on the 10:30 am ferry.

Departs from Port Clyde, Maine; May 19 - 22, 2017; Program Fee: $695/members; $745/non-members. Ages: 16  and up.
