Spring Birding

Come for a day of birding on beautiful Prudence Island, an ideal stopover point for many species of songbirds during their spring migration. Staff from the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve will greet you upon arrival and guide you throughout the day in a passenger van. We will make a few stops around the island, incorporating some short walks (.5 to 1.5 miles). Trails are relatively flat and we will go at an easy pace. Learn about the Research Reserve, the unique history of the island and the beautiful natural features that make Prudence a true gem in the middle of the Bay. Due to limited space, registration is required.

What to Bring: a packed lunch/drinks; binoculars (we have extra); comfortable walking shoes. Ferry and Parking: Participants will depart on the 9:45 am ferry out of Bristol, RI arriving on Prudence Island at 10:15 am. Departure from Prudence Island will be at 2:30 pm, returning to Bristol at 3:00 pm. There is a free municipal parking lot in Bristol just south of the intersection of Church Street & Thames Street. Ferry ticket price is not included in the registration and is approximately $11 round trip.
