Hiking Prudence Island
Prudence Island has several miles of hiking trails that cover a wide range of habitats from forested wetlands to coastal meadow and pine barrens. Travel to the Island for what is sure to be a beautiful fall hike. Pace will be moderate and cover 3 to 4 miles over a mix of terrain. Trails are well maintained and we will avoid areas of high grass to reduce exposure to ticks.
You will be greeted upon arrival to the island by educators from the Narragansett Bay Research Reserve who will transport you for the day in a passenger van. What to Bring: snacks/drinks for the afternoon, insect repellent, sunblock, and comfortable walking shoes. Reservations are required due to limited space. Ferry ticket is not included in the price and is approximately $12 round trip/adult and $6/child. You will depart on the 1:30 pm ferry from Bristol, arriving on Prudence at 2:00 pm; the return trip will depart Prudence at 6:00 pm and arrive in Bristol at 6:30 pm.
