November 2021 Providence Birding Adventure

Join naturalists from the Audubon Society of Rhode Island and the Providence Parks Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership for a free GUIDED BIRD WALK in the afternoon of Friday, November 19 from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm.  This beautiful cemetery is an oasis for birds in the city, and many of its grand trees are labeled so we can learn more about this park habitat while we are there.

Here are some specifics:

We will send details on the exact meeting spot once you register. Registration is limited to 18 attendees so please register early so as not to miss out!
To participate, please do wear a mask if you are not vaccinated or if you feel more comfortable doing so.  If you are fully vaccinated, then you may attend without a mask, but please remain aware of how close we get to each other when looking at the birds. Families with children who may not be able to be vaccinated, please feel welcome joining us!
If you are able to bring your own equipment - binoculars and field guides – please do so. We will bring some extra binoculars and fold-out field guides so that we can limit sharing among participants.
Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes.
Most of the walk will be on the paved roads of the Cemetery. If we step into the forest, those dirt trails are not handicapped accessible.

These birding adventures began in 2018 as part of the Urban Bird Treaty Program, and in 2019, Providence was designated a Bird Treaty City. To read more about the Urban Bird Treaty and other participating cities, visit https://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/pdf/grants/UrbanBirdTreatyfactsheet.pdf
