Edible Wild Plants Walk

The East Bay region is home to over 90 species of edible wild plants, some of which are more nutritious and/or flavorful than their cultivated counterparts. These include native species like spicebush and sassafras, edible weeds like purslane and chicory, and edible invasives like wineberry and black locust. Join Russ Cohen, expert forager and author of “Wild Plants I Have Known...and Eaten”, on an evening ramble to learn about at least two dozen edible plant species, including coastal species like orach and sea rocket. Russ will present information on identification tips, edible portion(s), season(s) of availability and preparation methods. He will also provide general guidelines for safe and environmentally-responsible foraging.

Cancellation Policy

Full Refunds will be given if Audubon cancels a class. Audubon reserves the right to change class locations, schedules, fees, and instructors when necessary. Audubon will not issue refunds for classes which have been postponed due to inclement weather or other circumstances beyond our control. Audubon will make every effort to reschedule such classes. If you cannot attend a program as planned, you will be refunded the registration cost minus the convenience fees. To obtain a refund, you must inform Audubon in writing via email, 7 days prior to the (first) class meeting. Contact email address is listed for each program. Cancellations within 7 days will not be entitled to a refund. No-shows will not be refunded and the registration fee will be considered a donation to Audubon. Travel Programs and overnight programs each have separate cancellation policies, see program description for each policy.
